Candle Care
Candles
Failure to follow instructions could result in fire hazard, injury, or smoke damage. Keep wax free of matches, wick trimmings, or other flammable materials. Keep wick centered and trimmed to 1/4” to prevent smoking & soot build up on container or other items. Burn only on a stable heat-resistant surface for not more than 4 hours at a time. Keep out of drafts. Discontinue use when only 1/2” of wax remains in bottom. Do not remove the candle while burning or if the wax is hot. Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Wax Melts
To prevent fire or injury: Remove packaging before use. Use only in tea-light warmers or UL-listed electric warmers approved for wax provided with your warmer before use. Do NOT leave the melter unattended while in use. Keep out of the reach of children and pets. INSTRUCTIONS: Do NOT add water. Do NOT melt on stove top or in non-approved appliances. Use only in well-ventilated areas away from flammable materials. Discontinue use if the dish contains less than 1/2” of wax.
Types of Wax
Soy Wax
Soy wax is a natural wax derived from soybeans. It is a popular alternative to traditional paraffin wax, which is derived from petroleum. Soy wax is often used in candle-making due to its eco-friendly and sustainable characteristics. It is made from soybeans, which are a renewable resource. It is biodegradable, meaning it breaks down easily and is less harmful to the environment compared to paraffin wax. Soy wax burns more cleanly than paraffin wax, producing less soot and minimizing indoor air pollution. This can be beneficial for individuals with respiratory sensitivities. Soy candles tend to burn slower and cooler than paraffin candles. This often results in a longer burning time for soy candles. Soybeans are a renewable resource, and supporting soy wax production encourages sustainable farming practices. Soy wax is plant-based, making it suitable for vegetarian and vegan lifestyles. It is also cruelty-free. Soy wax is a popular choice for environmentally conscious consumers.
Paraffin Wax
Paraffin wax is a type of wax that is derived from petroleum, a fossil fuel. Paraffin wax is derived from petroleum, a non-renewable resource. Its production is linked to the extraction and processing of crude oil, which raises environmental concerns. Soot Production: When burned, paraffin candles can produce soot, which may contribute to indoor air pollution. This can be a concern for individuals with respiratory sensitivities. This contrasts with some natural waxes, such as soy wax, which tend to biodegrade more readily. Paraffin wax has a low melting point, which means candles made from it may be sensitive to temperature changes and may soften or deform in high temperatures.
Parasoy
Parasoy wax is a blend of paraffin wax and soy wax. This combination is designed to incorporate the positive attributes of both waxes, resulting in a wax that is easy to work with, has a good scent throw, and may offer a cleaner burn than straight paraffin wax. Parasoy wax is typically a mixture of paraffin and soy waxes. The proportions of each wax type can vary, and different formulations may be available on the market. Parasoy wax is often chosen for its ability to hold and release fragrance well, providing a good scent throw when the candle is burned. This makes it a popular choice for scented candles. Candles made with parasoy wax often have a smooth and polished appearance, making them visually appealing. By combining paraffin and soy, parasoy wax attempts to strike a balance between the benefits of each wax type. It may offer the creamy appearance and good scent throw of paraffin, along with the eco-friendly and cleaner-burning qualities associated with soy. While parasoy wax attempts to combine the positive aspects of paraffin and soy, it may not be as environmentally friendly as 100% soy wax. The exact composition of parasoy blends can vary, so it's advisable to check the product specifications from the manufacturer.
